Wireless communications signal processing technology with FPGA

We can obtain the following interesting radio communications devices by using FPGAs (Field programmable gate arrays) or DSPs (digital signal processors).

  1. flexible adaptation to environmental change.

  2. high performance.

  3. free from performance fluctuation and deviation.

  4. reduction of design and manufacturing terms.

  5. reduction of space.

We are investigating the software-defined wireless communications systems using FPGAs and DSPs.

We have developed an FPGA direct digital synthesizer (DDS) with reduced internal memory and noise. DDS is an important component in many digital communication systems. In particular, DDS will be used for constructing a digital down converter in a satellite multibeam system with beamforming technology.

We propose a new DDS system with reduced internal memory. In addition, we investigate the phase noise and spurious level with dithering and feedback methods.

Example: DDL(Direct digital synthesizer) with less memory volume
