Economical ubiquitous wireless communications system

The Internet becomes one of the important infrastructures in our daily lives.

The demand for controlling electric or electronic appliances around us through networks has been increasing.

In order to control them through the network, we have to have appliances with network interfaces such as LAN. However, there are not so many appliances that can be connected to networks.

We developed an economical ubiquitous control system that enables us to control appliances without network interfaces on the Internet. The system incorporates a micro-computer board between a network and appliances, some simple modules, and software.

We evaluated the control characteristics of the designed system. We found that the proposed system has enough control speed and is effective for controlling appliances around us on Internet We can remotely control them from PC terminal connected to the Internet. In addition, they are also autonomously controlled by software installed on a Micro-computer, judging from monitor data collected from sensors around us.
